Bebe Rexha Posts Face Injury Image After Being Struck by a Phone at New York Gig
After being hit by a phone while performing in New York City, Bebe Rexha is updating her fans on her health.
The pop sensation was injured during a performance at The Rooftop at Pier 17 when a flying cell phone from the audience struck her in the face. She was taken to the hospital immediately. Social media videos show Rexha stumbling to her knees after being struck by the device as stagehands race to help her.
The singer-songwriter captioned two images of her terrible injury on Instagram with the words “I’m good.” The photos reveal a slash above her right eye.
In response to the incident, the New York Police Department detained 27-year-old Nicolas Malvagna and charged him with a felony for using the phone as a weapon.
Rexha will make a stop at Philadelphia’s Fillmore as a part of her ‘Best F’n Night of My Life Tour’ this week. A two-night stand at Los Angeles’ Wiltern will mark the end of the U.S. tour.
‘Bebe’, Rexha’s self-titled third album, was released by Warner Records earlier this year. Her David Guetta collaboration, ‘I’m Good (Blue),’ as well as its follow-ups ‘Heart Wants What It Wants’ and ‘Call on Me,’ all reached the top four on the Billboard Hot 100 chart last September.
