After the 55-year-old singer filed for divorce from the 52-year-old actor on 20th August, the source shared that Lopez realized it was “time to move on” for several reasons. Despite her sadness and disappointment, the source noted that Affleck hadn’t shown any interest in saving their marriage or any commitment to making it work, leaving Lopez feeling she needed to prioritize herself.

Insiders confirmed that Lopez filed for divorce on the second anniversary of their wedding celebration in Georgia, which took place a month after their intimate Las Vegas ceremony on 17th July 2022.

Lopez and Affleck rekindled their relationship in April 2021, years after their initial romance and engagement, which had led to a postponed wedding in September 2003. They later went public with their renewed relationship, including an appearance at the Venice Film Festival in September 2021 and making it Instagram official in July 2021.

In a February 2022 interview with PEOPLE, Lopez acknowledged the challenges of dating in the spotlight again but expressed her happiness and pride in being with Affleck.
