Benny Blanco Praises Selena Gomez’s Film ‘Emilia Pérez’
Selena Gomez has shared a sneak peek of her song ‘Mi Camino’, featured in her upcoming film Emilia Pérez. The singer and actress posted a snippet of her performance on Instagram, captioning it, “A little sneak peek of the song ‘Mi Camino’ that I performed in ‘EMILIA PÉREZ’. In select theatres soon and on @Netflix in the U.S., U.K., and Canada,” teasing the film’s release.
Benny Blanco, her partner and record producer, praised the movie in the comments, saying, “This is one of the best movies I have ever seen.” The couple, who confirmed their relationship publicly, often share affectionate posts about each other on social media, with Gomez previously referring to Blanco as her “absolute everything.”

In ‘Emilia Pérez’, Gomez stars as Jessi Del Monte, a role that garnered her much attention after the film received a standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival. The film tells the story of feared cartel leader Manitas (played by Karla Sofía Gascón), who enlists lawyer Rita (Zoe Saldaña) to help him secretly undergo a sex change operation as he approaches retirement.
Gomez recently appeared alongside her co-stars Saldaña and Gascón during a panel discussion following the movie’s screening at the Telluride Film Festival. The panel offered more insight into the making of the film and its reception by audiences.
While discussing her song ‘Mi Camino’, Gomez explained that the track initially had a different tone. “It had a bit more of a rough sound to it,” she shared. Over time, through working closely with singer-songwriter Camille, the song evolved into something more intimate, almost like a ballad, which Gomez described as “a story about a woman and the phases of life she goes through.”
The transformation of ‘Mi Camino’ reflects the depth and emotion Gomez brought to her performance, making it a standout moment in the film.
