Beyonce & Co. Celebrate Life Of Kobe Bryant

Beyonce performed at the public memorial for Kobe Bryant and his daughter yesterday. The ceremony was called “A Celebration Of Life ”, featuring Alicia Keys , Jimmy Kimel, Micheal Jordan and so forth.

Beyonce kicked things off by performing Kobe’s favorite songs, “XO” and “Halo”. The song “XO was featured on her 2013 self titled album and “Halo”from her 2009 “I am… Sasha Fierce”. The two songs are similar in theme and feel which felt perfect for the moment. “Halo” was also featured on the soundtrack of a 2015 documentary “Kobe Bryants’s muse”

She and Kobe shared a special bond which she spoke about in the ceremony. Their friendship is one that lasted for over a decade, “I’m here because I love Kobe, and this is one of his favorite songs,” she said before launching into a special rendition of “XO.” She was accompanied by singers and a string quartet, and wore a gold pantsuit. After her performance many congratulated her saying it was angelic.

“In the darkest night hour , I’ll search through the crowd , Your face is all that I see,” she sang, surrounded by string players and a small choir all clad in white, before transitioning to “Halo”. During the performance she stopped singing and urged the audience to join in. This seemed like the highlight of the night when everyone joined to sing the rest of Beyonce’s song.

“Many people have a little brother or sister who messes with their stuff, asks too many questions and makes a nuisance of themselves, I was that lil brother to Kobe Bryant” said the Chicago Bull legend , Micheal Jordan.
