Bill Skarsgård Embraces Darkness in Chilling First Look at 'Nosferatu' Poster

Fans of Bill Skarsgård are eagerly awaiting December when he will take on the role of the iconic Nosferatu in Robert Eggers’ upcoming film. While promotional material has teased glimpses of other characters, Skarsgård's portrayal has remained mostly under wraps—until now. A new poster reveals his shadowy silhouette, cloaked in mystery, featuring a heavy robe, a likely bald head, and long, eerie fingers. Though it doesn’t fully reveal his character, the poster sparks fans' imaginations, heightening anticipation for his full unveiling.

Eggers, known for his mastery of dark, period-driven films like ‘The Witch’, ‘The Lighthouse’, and ‘The Northman’, is expected to bring his unique touch to this classic vampire tale. Fans are eager to see how he reimagines the story for modern audiences. Skarsgård, a highly immersive actor, has teased that his portrayal of Nosferatu will be “gross” yet "sexualised," playing on the idea of a monster's dark, seductive power. He hopes viewers will feel both attracted to and repulsed by the character.

The film is described as a gothic exploration of obsession, love, seduction, and fear, set in the 1800s. It closely follows the original ‘Dracula’ story, centring on Thomas Hutter, sent to assist Count Orlok with the purchase of a new home. However, Hutter soon suspects Orlok might be a vampire. When Orlok becomes enamoured with Hutter's wife, Ellen, the couple realises they must find a way to stop him before it's too late.

The star-studded cast includes Nicholas Hoult as Thomas Hutter, Lily-Rose Depp as Ellen Hutter, and Willem Dafoe as Albin Eberhart Von Franz. ‘Nosferatu’ is set to debut in theatres on 25th December.
