Beyoncé has been recognized by Billboard as the greatest pop star of the 21st century, with the announcement made on December 4. The publication cited her "25 years of influence, impact, and evolution" as the basis for the honour, according to Andrew Unterberger. He explained that Beyoncé’s enduring legacy continues to shape the pop music landscape.
Billboard highlighted Beyoncé’s remarkable achievements, including 12 Billboard Hot 100 number-one hits. Her journey began with Destiny’s Child’s 2000 classic ‘Say My Name’ and extended to her recent contribution to Cowboy Carter, ‘Texas Hold ’Em.’ Additionally, she has earned 10 Billboard 200 number-one albums, encompassing two from Destiny’s Child and every solo project she has released since 2003’s Dangerously In Love.
Unterberger remarked on Beyoncé’s lasting impact, saying that she has remained an icon for over 25 years. He noted her relentless pursuit of innovation and greatness, emphasizing that she shows no signs of slowing down.

Beyoncé’s influence extends beyond charts and accolades. She officially holds the record for the most Grammy nominations and wins in history, further solidifying her status in the music industry. On YouTube, her iconic 2008 music video for ‘Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)’ recently surpassed one billion views, marking her second video to achieve this milestone after ‘Halo’ reached it in 2021.
In academia, Beyoncé's cultural significance has inspired a new course at Yale University titled Beyoncé Makes History: Black Radical Tradition History, Culture, Theory & Politics through Music.
Amidst speculation about a 2025 tour, her representatives have dismissed the rumours. However, fans can look forward to her performance at the NFL Christmas Day Halftime Show, which will be streamed live on Netflix on December 25.
Beyoncé’s recent track, ‘16 Carriages,’ from Cowboy Carter, has also earned acclaim. The gospel-country ballad reflects on her teenage dreams, motherhood, and the sacrifices she has made for her career, further cementing her legacy as an artist who continues to evolve and inspire.
