Billie Eilish recently took to her social media handle to announce the release of her limited edition album covers of the Happier Than Ever CD. These have been ‘hand painted’ by the singer herself and are up for purchase for USD 10.

This new merch did not however sit well with her fans who criticized her action for being ‘lazy’ and ‘lacking skill’. In a video shared by the singer herself, fans get a look at the creation process of these CDs. Billie can be seen walking in a room with a twig dipped in white paint which she then splatters all over the CD covers in front of her.

“Shop limited edition splatter-painted “Happier Than Ever” CDs, hand-painted by Billie, available in limited quantities now. Each album cover is one-of-a-kind, no two are the same” she shares in the caption for her promotional post.

Fans were quick to point out how calling the CDs hand-painted is a bit of a stretch and that the product certainly did not justify its price.

While the criticisms have been pouring in hard and fast, you should also know that these CDs sold out in the blink of an eye. Billie had previously received a similar backlash in February this year for her merch that was priced at around USD 200. Fans considered this to be ‘highly expensive’ especially in light of the pandemic situation that the world is in.

Happier Than Ever is the singer’s second studio album and is set for release on July 30.
