Billie Eilish Opens Up About How Conversations at Therapy Influenced Her Songwriting

The “Bad Guy” hitmaker Billie Eilish reveals how therapy has helped her greatly in the songwriting process. Billie sees a therapist once a week, and she has also encouraged everyone to follow suit as she explained the benefits of opening up to someone.

Chatting up with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, she said that she genuinely believed that everyone, every human on earth should go to therapy despite what they felt about their life; happy or anything.

“Anyone should go, even if they think their life is just amazing and perfect, and nothing’s wrong. Every single person should go.”

The 19-year-old Grammy award winner who has been working on her highly anticipated second album “Happier Than Ever” talked about how she drew inspiration for her lyrics from conversations with her therapist. Amazing right?

Billie also added that it made her talk through things and think about them constantly. She realized that she talks through things in therapy that she doesn’t even think about in her life. Therapy has enabled her to tap into her creative potential.

She said, “I think it helps my creative process because it makes me not word- vomit, and it makes me not have everything up here.”

“And then over the week I’m like thinking about, ‘Wow, that thing we talked about in therapy, I should write about that. That’s really interesting.’

“And it’s really helpful, it brings it out of you and it’s really necessary.”

Billie also noted that she went through a lot of “self-reflection” on her new album which is due to be released on July 30, 2021.

“I was realizing things about my life that I had never even processed and realized that I had never processed. And the same with things that I witnessed around me and saw happen. And just talking through it and getting it out of me, and then you know, making it sound good.”

It’s great to see celebrities advocating for mental health which might aid in reducing the stigma. With the threat of the third wave of pandemic looming large, many have been facing a mental health crisis that may have affected many areas of their lives. Some may experience writer’s block or any block in their creativity which makes it necessary to seek help to improve their professional lives as well.

Can’t wait for the release of her new album!
