Billie Eilish's mother, actress Maggie Baird, has addressed the notion that her daughter and son Finneas are “nepo babies.” Baird, a seasoned actor with roles in films, television, and video games, once had a minor role in an episode of Friends. Recently, a clip of her from the show resurfaced, leading to social media claims that her kids, musicians Billie Eilish and Finneas, benefit from nepotism. In a recent cover interview for Glamour alongside other celebrity mothers, including Tina Knowles and Mandy Teefy, Baird seized the opportunity to dismiss any allegations of nepotism regarding her children.
Baird said: “I think it’s hilarious. Because that came out, and it was like, ‘Oh, Billie is a nepo baby.’ And I’m like, ‘Did you know that I got that episode of Friends because I was about to lose my health insurance?'”

She continued: “My husband (Patrick O’Connell) and I are working class actors. We eked out a meagre living, and it afforded us a lot of time with our kids, which was awesome. But the industry is primarily people like us or even people not even like us who couldn’t even do that. So when all of this happened to our kids, we’d never been on that side of it. I think that people don’t really understand there’s a whole industry of people who are creative and they’re working and they’re struggling, and they make perfectly happy lives, and they feel creative, and they feel fulfilled. But that’s a very different life than on this side of the door where you’re suddenly playing in this different arena.”

Throughout her career, Baird has appeared in films such as An Innocent Man and Manic, and voiced minor roles in Eragon and Ice Age. On television, she has acted in shows like Walker, Texas Ranger, Picket Fences, Friends, and Charmed. It has also been reported that Eilish is now learning to produce music at home without her brother Finneas, who has produced all three of her albums thus far.
