BLACKPINK Teases New Album, Reveals Release Date

BLACKPINK reveal release date of upcoming album

South Korean girl group, BLACKPINK, are gearing up for a mega tide of success, with two impending releases up their sleeves. The girls are all set to release their debut studio album, “THE ALBUM”, on the 2nd of October. Further, a full-length Netflix documentary, directed by Caroline Suh, is slated for release on the 14th of October.

BLACKPINK and the Recording Process

In a recent interview with ELLE magazine, BLACKPINK revealed that they’re deep into the process of finishing the album. Despite being on their first ever “break”, the girls have been working non-stop. And, in a relatable revelation, the girls said: “These days, we have no boundaries when it comes to work.” “Even on our days off, we’re basically at the studio recording,” Rosé furthered, adding: “Life is work, and work is life!”

BLACKPINK and Blinks – It’s All Love

Aside from the exciting reveal of the release date, the group also talked about their relationship with their fans – ‘Blinks’. A sonic signature one hears in many of the group’s tracks is: “BLACKPINK in ya area”. And, Jennie elaborated on that. She revealed, “When we say [that] we’re literally saying we’re in your area with good music, with good energy—we’re here for you.”

And, as the music world continues to stay abuzz with the energy of new music, BLACKPINK has contributed heavily in recent times. With hit singles, ‘How You Like That’ and ‘Ice Cream’, the girls have been making their ascent into household status, steadily.

Blazing the Trail

Most recently, ‘Ice Cream’ entered both the Billboard Global 200 and the Billboard Global 200 (Excl. US) at No. 8 and No. 6, respectively.

In addition, they’ve also blown sales and streaming records for girl groups out of the waters, becoming the most followed girl group on Spotify. Further, they’ve also become the most subscribed to music YouTube channel (surpassing Ariana Grande and BTS), and more. And, they also stand tall as the highest charting Korean girl group on the Billboard Hot 100 rankings, cementing their trailblazer status.

“THE ALBUM”, featuring the singles ‘Ice Cream’ and ‘How You Like That’, is slated for release on the 2nd of October.
