Blackpink’s Lisa Unveils Britney Spears Cover as The Group Gears Up For a Virtual Reality Concert

Blackpink members are making a strong bid for the ‘Queens of Christmas’ title, with three significant announcements or releases during the holiday season. Lisa, in particular, released her cover of the Britney Spears holiday classic, ‘My Only Wish (This Year)’.

Following Christmas, the group had major plans for the day after, presenting a virtual reality concert showcase titled ‘Blackpink: A VR Encore,’. Additionally, on Christmas Eve, another noteworthy announcement came from Blackpink member Jennie, who shared with fans that she would be launching her own label and company, OA, in the upcoming year.

Lisa, renowned as Blackpink’s main rapper and dancer, showcased a vocal departure from her usual rapping persona with her cover of Spears’ only holiday song. In a message to her Blinks, she expressed, “Christmas present for my Blinks… Have a wonderful holiday.”

This unexpected cover brings back to life a Spears song initially featured on Jive Records’ 2000 all-label holiday album, ‘Platinum Christmas’. The album also included top-label artists of that time, including NSYNC, Santana, Christina Aguilera, Backstreet Boys and R. Kelly.
