Chromeo’s Dave 1 says of their new collaborators that they clicked with Blu and Rex immediately, and they were like their younger siblings. Dave mentioned that because they’re so skilled and appealing, their main aim was to make records where they can actually feel like they are playing live. He also kept telling them that it has to be groovy, catchy and it has to gain respect from all of their musician friends.

Talking about the band, Blu said that she’s loved Chromeo for as long as she could remember. Blu continued saying she used to go to every Chromeo event in New York as a kid and that their musicianship and taste, both musically and visually, have always impressed her. Blu also referred them as the ‘cool cops,’. Lastly she said that its all about the energy and that this collaboration was a dream come true for her.

P-Thugg of the band added that bass is the backbone of funk music and that from Larry Graham to Meshell Ndegeocello, they grew up idolising them all. He mentioned that’s what they saw in Blu and wanted to bring it out of her.

Last year, Blu DeTiger’s ‘How Did We Get Here?’ was reviewed, saying, ‘How Did We Get Here?’ feels so endlessly adorable. DeTiger has produced a contemporary, stylish and energetic project that is sure to speed her meteoric rise to popularity by discharging a brutal passion for the bass into every hook.
