Bob Dylan Performs ‘Rainy Day Women #12 & 35’ for the First Time in Nearly a Decade

At an Outlaw Music Festival stop in Boise, Idaho, Bob Dylan played ‘Rainy Day Women #12 & 35’ live for the first time in nearly a decade.

Currently on a joint tour with Willie Nelson, Dylan has been making waves by reworking classic songs in unexpected ways. Now, he’s delving into his own catalogue to surprise fans and keep his setlists fresh and unpredictable.

Dylan last performed ‘Rainy Day Women #12 & 35’ in 2016. The song, known for its iconic chorus “everybody must get st***d,” is the opening track on his legendary 1966 album ‘Blonde on Blonde.’

Fans eagerly captured the moment on video at the Ford Amphitheatre near Boise, Idaho.

At the Idaho show, Bob Dylan also brought back ‘Spirit on the Water’ to his setlist for the first time since 2018.

When the ‘Outlaw Music Festival Tour’ began, Dylan kicked things off with an unpredictable setlist, featuring ‘50s blues and country covers, along with some deep cuts. His opening set included renditions of Willie Dixon’s ‘My Babe,’ Chuck Berry’s ‘Little Queenie,’ and Hank Williams’ ‘Cold, Cold Heart.’ He also performed four tracks from his 2012 album ‘Tempest,’ including ‘Long And Wasted Years’ and ‘Scarlet Town.’

Dylan has also announced a UK headline tour later this year, with a series of shows at London’s Royal Albert Hall. His ‘Rough and Rowdy Ways’ world tour will hit the UK in November, beginning with a performance at BIC Windsor Hall in Bournemouth on 1st November.

Cameras and mobile phones will be prohibited at these concerts, which will also take Dylan to cities like Liverpool, Edinburgh, and Wolverhampton.

In other Bob Dylan news, the Timothée Chalamet-starring biopic, ‘A Complete Unknown’, is set to be released in cinemas this winter.

The film will delve into Dylan’s pivotal transition to the electric guitar in the ’60s, his meteoric rise to fame, and his eventual status as an icon in the folk-rock music scene.

Last year, Chalamet revealed that he had listened to a treasure trove of unreleased Bob Dylan music while preparing for the role. To help him sing as Dylan in the biopic, Chalamet trained with the same team that coached Austin Butler for ‘Elvis’.
