Bon Iver Set to Perform at Kamala Harris Rally This Week

Bon Iver has been confirmed to perform at an event supporting Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign this week.

According to Billboard, the rally is scheduled for 7th August in Wisconsin and will feature Bon Iver. Although the band, led by Justin Vernon, has not publicly endorsed Harris’ presidential bid, their participation suggests support for the Vice President.

Harris’ team stated that Bon Iver’s involvement reflects their alignment with her values, which resonate with those of Wisconsin. Lead singer Justin Vernon, along with bandmates Sean Carey and Michael Lewis, will join the rally to celebrate their home state and the origins of Bon Iver.

Bon Iver has a history of supporting their hometown, frequently debuting new music at the Eaux Claires Music Festival and contributing to the local economy. They have also been involved in ‘Get Out The Vote’ events in Wisconsin. In 2022, they launched a non-partisan initiative called ‘For Wisconsin’ to promote political engagement and unity, using their platform to support pro-democracy and civil rights organizations.

Rapper Quavo praised Harris for her efforts to address gun violence and her leadership of the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention. Megan Thee Stallion performed at a Harris rally and urged her fans to vote for her. Olivia Rodrigo, Charli XCX, and John Legend have also expressed their support for Harris, highlighting her stance on reproductive rights and other issues. Beyoncé allowed Harris to use her song ‘Freedom’ in a campaign video after the Vice President walked out to the anthem at a staff meeting.

Bon Iver’s latest album, ‘I, I’ was released in 2019. In a five-star review, NME praised the album for incorporating elements from the band’s previous records, evolving their sound while maintaining the compelling essence of Bon Iver’s music.
