Bruce Springsteen opened up about raising his three children while navigating the world of fame as a rockstar dad. In a new interview with ‘The Times’, the 75-year-old, who shares three children with his wife and bandmate Patti Scialfa, revealed they often shielded their kids from the spotlight. The couple’s children—Evan, 34, Jessica, 32, and Samuel, 30—were kept distanced from their parents' celebrity status as they grew up.
Springsteen shared that when his kids were little, they would hear his name on the radio and say “Bruce Springsteen!” to separate him from his public persona. He and Scialfa made a conscious effort not to expose their kids to fame, recalling how they would come to a few concerts before retreating to play video games, unaware of their father’s global fame. As they grew older, they began bringing friends to shows, but they were still able to pursue their own careers and lives.

The legendary musician also spoke about his relationship with Scialfa, joking that her work as a talented songwriter hasn’t always received the attention it deserves because of his own fame. Springsteen added that while he leads their performances together, once offstage, he's just “the chauffeur who gets the kids to school at 6 a.m.”
The couple’s children have each followed their own paths: Evan works in music, Jessica is a professional equestrian, and Samuel is a firefighter. Springsteen noted that his kids have shown a “healthy disinterest” in their parents' careers, having their own musical tastes and heroes.

In August, Springsteen squashed rumours of retirement during a concert, declaring, “We ain’t doing no farewell tour bulls---. Hell no … I ain’t goin’ anywhere.” His band, the E Street Band, will continue their world tour into 2025, and ‘Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band’ premieres on Hulu and Disney+ on 25th October.
