Bruce Springsteen Serenades Audience On SNL!

Bruce Springsteen performs live for the first time in 4 years now. And, if that wasn’t enough, he took to the SNL stage with his singles from the hit album, “Letter To You“. More than that, his performance was something to really look forward to.

Timothee and Bruce Make A Fun Duo!

The show’s latest and first- time host and teenage sensation, Timothee Chalamet introduced the night’s musical guest Bruce Springsteen. The night was Bruce’s fourth appearance on SNL, having previously appeared in season 17 and 28. They were joined by a former cast member of SNL, Gary Kroeger who happened to be the first to impersonate their guest for the night, on the show.

Although it was a treat, the fans missed not having all the members of the legendary ensemble perform. Springsteen made an announcement earlier regarding the substitute performer. Disciples of Soul’s Jack Daley filled in for the founding Bassist Garry Tallent.

Right after the introduction by Chalamet, Bruce and the E Street Band played an energetic and joyous rendition of ‘Ghosts’ and ‘I’ll See You In My Dreams’. This performance also marked their first SNL performance since 2015.

“Letter To You” Is All About Looking For Hope Within Darkness

“Letter To you” released on the 23rd of October 2020. It is also the 20th studio album from Bruce. The album reflects grappling the intricacies of nostalgia, which he was much known for since he first serenaded the audience in the mid’-70s.

The album is accompanied by a black-and-white documentary that showcases Bruce’s home like an interactive museum with old pictures of musicians he has collaborated with in the past, including his teenage rock band and musical instruments.

George Theiss’s death in 2018, inspired Bruce to write the songs for his album. In his single ‘Ghosts’ from the album, his lyrics describe a welcome haunting, bumping into old friends by surprise that makes life better which otherwise feels empty and daunting. A few other good songs from the album also reflect similar vibes.

“The Boss” as Bruce is fondly nicknamed by his fans, sings in his end track, ‘I’ll See You In My Dreams’, “We’ll meet and live and laugh again, for death is not the end”, reflecting hope. When he sings ‘there’s only so much time left,’, the fact that even great ones like Springsteen won’t be around forever and strikes a chord somewhere in everyone!

The year has never felt more uncertain and the past, never so long gone. But as long as Bruce and the band serenade us with their music, we keep our hopes and dreams up!
