Bruce Springsteen recently shared his thoughts on Jeremy Allen White’s casting as The Boss in the upcoming biopic ‘Deliver Me From Nowhere’. On October 28, the first official look at The Bear star as a young Springsteen was released, showing White dressed in Springsteen’s signature flannel and denim jacket with his hands tucked into his pockets.
In an interview with The Telegraph, Springsteen was asked about White’s casting and said that she knew he was “the right guy” for the role. She explained that just seeing him in The Bear was enough, saying that he had “that interior life but also a little swagger.” Springsteen’s longtime mentor and manager, Jon Landau, added that White would be “depicting a very interior person,” noting that White’s portrayal needed to reflect “a tremendous amount going on, some of which gets articulated and some of which is held back.”

In ‘Deliver Me From Nowhere’, Jon Landau will be portrayed by Succession’s Jeremy Strong. Landau shared that he’d advised Strong not to go to extremes with his character’s weight, commenting that he didn’t “need to go the full Raging Bull on the character development.” Springsteen humorously added that the producers “tried to get [Strong] in the fat suit.”
White’s casting was first announced in April, and the film, expected to release next year, will dive into the making of Springsteen’s iconic 1982 album Nebraska. The cast will also include Peaky Blinders’ Steven Graham as Springsteen’s father and Black Bird’s Paul Walter Hauser as guitar tech Mike Batlan.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the real-life Landau said that she found White “just perfect” for the role. Director Scott Cooper had emphasized from the start that the right cast was crucial, and Landau agreed, saying that Cooper “got the right cast.”
White, who has been preparing extensively for the role, shared in August that she felt fortunate to have a team of experts helping her train vocally and musically for the part. She added that Springsteen had been “really supportive of the project” and described him as “just the greatest guy.”
