“I Had To Pretend A Lot”

At 25 years old, Jimin is a part of one of the biggest boy bands to walk on the face of the earth. BTS has evolved in the past years to became a ‘phenomenon’ that millions in the world are religiously a part of. With this insane level of success and fame that the boys have earned for themselves, it’s only natural to assume that they face a tremendous amount of pressure at certain times too.

Jimin opened up about how there were times when he “used to be really unstable” and had to act like “I was well-grounded when I was around other people, like my family and friends”. He spoke about how he recently opened up to his parents about his feelings and how they had comforted him. ” We didn’t know what you were going through, but we knew it was something.” they had said. “So finally I shared what I was feeling with them, and my mom and dad talked to me like they were my life coaches. After coming out of that whole period, even when I do similar things, I can tell my mind has changed a lot. If I was more focused on my surroundings before, now I’m able to focus on myself as well. My mom told me it means I’m growing up, and that I’m finally becoming an adult. So I said, I don’t wanna be an adult—it’s too hard.” he further explains. Well Jimin, we surely have the same sentiments about growing up too.

Jimin also shared his excitement during the interview on the success of all his three recent hits-DynamiteButter, and Permission To Dance. “At some point, it stopped feeling real. The reactions from fans, the cover videos they uploaded and the dance challenges they did—I’m just so thankful for that. It lit up my life. We made those songs with a good purpose in mind, so just hearing people say they enjoyed listening to them was fulfilling. And that was our original goal.” he says.

When asked about what his work means to him, he responds with an answer that would truly melt any fan’s heart. “I guess it’s hard to separate it from myself. I’m me, and there’s also a separate me who works, but it’s hard to tell the two apart.”
