BTS Makes History (Again); Savage Love Remix Soars To The Top

BTS helps 'Savage Love' soar to the top of the Hot 100 singles chart

BTS just scored No. 1 with their feature on the Savage Love remix, taking Jason Derulo and Jawsh 685 to the top with them. And, if a second No. 1 atop the chart wasn’t enough, they’ve just made history yet again. As they occupy the first two spots on the Hot 100 singles chart, they make history as the only Korean group to do so.

Further, this marks the first time since 2009 that a group occupies the first two spots simultaneously; the Black Eyed Peas achieved this with ‘Boom Boom Pow’ and ‘I Gotta Feeling’ for four weeks back then.

A History Lesson ft. BTS

In addition, members SUGA and J-Hope also made history as the only Korean songwriters to be credited on a #1 Hot 100 song in chart history. The rappers contributed to the ‘Savage Love’ remix. Further, this gives Jawsh 685 their first ever No. 1 atop the chart. The remix, which was announced a while ago, was released last week on the 2nd of October.

And, in its debut week, the song accumulated 16 million streams. Further, BTS were officially credited as artists on the track following the surge in streams and sales upon the release of the remixed version featuring them.

In fact, reports state that the track amassed the bulk of its streams post the release of the remixed version featuring the BTS members. And so, ‘Savage Love’ which found itself in the lower half of the Top 10 on the Hot 100, soared to the top, scoring No.1  this week.

BTS Extends Records on the Hot 100

This gives BTS their second No. 1 atop the chart, their first being the all-English hit single, ‘Dynamite’. In addition, ‘Dynamite’ continues its reign of the Hot 100 singles chart, holding on strong at No. 2 this week. Further, this marks their seventh week on the chart, of which 3 (non-consecutive) were spent at No. 1 and 4 at No. 2. The South Korean mega group have surpassed Western acts like Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, The Weeknd, Drake and more.
