Calvin Harris And Ellie Goulding’s ‘Miracle’ Wins The U.K. Chart Race

The U.K. charts have a ‘miraculous’ song at the summit this time! Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding’s ‘Miracle’ is at the peak of the chart for the third non-consecutive week. The song is just 267 chart units ahead of David Kushner’s ‘Daylight’ according to the Official Charts Company. ‘Daylight’ stepped up the summit from the third to the second position, while Lewis Capaldi’s ‘Wish You The Best’ went from the first to the third position.

The close call for the song ‘Miracle’ is one for the record books, placing it in the all-time list. In the last 68 years of Official Chart history, this is one of the very few times that the songs on the top have such narrow margins. In 2007, Timbaland’s ‘The Way I Are’ pulled ahead of Kate Nash’s Foundations by just 16 copies. Switch Disco’s ‘React’ lifted 12-8 for the dance act’s first appearance in the U.K. top 10. The song has vocals from Ella Henderson and also samples from Robert Miles’ ‘Children’.

The London rapper Nines is on No. 11 with his song ‘Tony Soprano 2’, which makes it his first top 20 and third top 40 appearance overall. The song is also this week’s top debut! The Weeknd and Future’s collaboration ‘Double Fantasy’ from ‘The Idol’ is at no. 14. The K-pop girl group Fifty Fifty is also on the chart with their song ‘Cupid’, followed by David Guetta, Anne Marie and Coi Leray’s ‘Baby Don’t Hurt Me’.

HStikkytokky and General G also bagged a top 40 debut with ‘Twust’ at No. 21 and Raye’s ‘Flip A Switch’ at No. 35 owing to the new remix featuring Coi Leray. Kim Petras and Nicki Minaj are also in the top 40 with ‘Alone’ which samples Alice Deejay’s ‘Better Off Alone’.  This is Petras’ second top 40 after ‘Unholy’ with Sam Smith and Minaj’s 42nd.
