Camila Cabello Drops New Single ‘Godspeed’ With Lyrics Hinting at Breakup

Camila Cabello has announced her new single, ‘Godspeed’, set to be released on September 6. The track appears to address someone she has left behind. The announcement came alongside news of a new edition of her album ‘C, XOXO’, titled ‘Magic City’, which will feature this single.

Cabello shared a brief teaser of ‘Godspeed’ on Instagram, accompanied by the caption, “I wish you well, but far away from me.” The atmospheric clip shows Cabello in a sparkling silver dress, swimming in the ocean and standing on the shore, reflecting the song’s emotive mood.

In addition to the teaser, Cabello posted a still image from the music video and promoted the ‘deluxe’ edition of her album with the caption, “Always more stories to tell. Some new songs for your night in Magic City.” This move comes at a time when fans are connecting her announcement to recent speculation about a love triangle involving Sabrina Carpenter and Shawn Mendes.

Carpenter’s album ‘Short ‘n Sweet’ has been linked to her brief romance with Mendes, who previously dated Cabello. The song “Taste,” featuring Jenna Ortega in its music video, portrays a rivalry between two girls over a boy, adding fuel to the speculation. Carpenter’s track “Coincidence” also touches on similar themes.

Cabello’s own song ‘June Gloom’ from her latest album includes lyrics that seem to hint at the love triangle: “If she’s so amazing, why are you on this side of town? / If you like her so much, what are you here trying to find out?”
