Camila Cabello Fights For Transgender Rights
It looks like social activism is in full swing in the music industry. While numerous artists are up in arms regarding the #BlackLivesMatter movement, Camila Cabello is here to remind everyone that June is also, in fact, Pride month.
The former Fifth Harmony star took to social media to show her support for the LGBTQ community. Over the weekend, the singer posted a “Happy Pride Month” message on Instagram. It featured two hands, intertwined together, one wearing rainbow bands – representing all the Pride colours.
Camila Cabello captioned the post with this:
“This month is pride month !!!!!!! i have so much admiration and respect for the LGBTQ+ community, this community includes some of the bravest, kindest, strongest people I know- you teach me by example what it means to be true to yourself and your heart, what it means to be brave, what it means to be fierce and kind every step of the way and living YOUR truth no matter how hard and scary that may be, loving whoever you want to love. happy pride month”.

Cabello continued by addressing the endless discrimination faced by Transgender people under the Trump administration. Apart from the charming little sketch she posted, her swipe post also held an important piece of information from the New York Times stating that the Trump administration has finalized a rule to erase all Obama-era protections for transgender patients facing discrimination in health care.
In her caption, Cabello expressed her disgust with the issue:
“In the middle of one of the worst epidemics of violence against Black transgender people, Trump decided to finalize a rule erasing Obama-era protections for transgender patients facing discrimination in health care. We aren’t were we need to be, we need to fight back! Please go to my insta stories where you can find a list of organizations to support. I’m donating to @translawcenter today.”
It won’t be long before other artists follow in suit. Musicians have come together to keep the storm against the Trump administration, constantly building. Cabello herself has encouraged her fans to vote, seeing as it is the ultimate show of power. The star has partnered with an organization that helps musicians aid fans with the voting process by ensuring that they are registered. Cabello has linked this organization in her bio.
And so, the fight for social justice continues.
