‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Receives Worst CinemaScore for an MCU Film

Marvel Studios has not been pleased with the way the public has responded to ‘Captain America: Brave New World’. On its first day of release, the movie, which stars Anthony Mackie as the new Captain America, had the lowest CinemaScore in the history of the franchise. This comes after the superhero movie received a low rating on Rotten Tomatoes, indicating a generally unfavourable reception. After Chris Evans withdrew from the role in 2019, Mackie made her first notable appearance in the role in ‘Brave New World’.
‘Brave New World’ received a B-grade from CinemaScore, a website that asks viewers if they would suggest a movie. For the superhero genre, which usually receives better ratings, this is a bad outcome. The score is significantly lower than the A- for ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’, the A- for ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’, and the A- for ‘Captain America: Civil War’. ‘Brave New World’s B-grade puts it in the same league as critically acclaimed superhero movies like ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ and ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’.

Additionally, the movie does poorly when contrasted to other recent Marvel films that had trouble, such as ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’, ‘The Marvels’, and ‘Eternals’, all of which had B grades and were viewed as box office failures. Despite becoming the lowest-grossing movie in the MCU, ‘The Marvels’ was still rated higher on Rotten Tomatoes than ‘Brave New World’. As of right now, the movie has the third-lowest approval rating of any MCU film on Rotten Tomatoes, behind only ‘Ant-Man 3’ (46%) and ‘Eternals’ (47%).
According to some observers, ‘Brave New World’ might be experiencing “superhero fatigue.” ‘Brave New World’ is anticipated to make roughly $90 million domestically over the four days of Presidents’ Day weekend, despite having a $180 million production budget. Harrison Ford also appears in the movie.
