For the time being, Cardi B is mostly focused on her Whipshots business, but not for long. At the very least, the rapper hinted in a recent interview that some significant financial manoeuvres were in the works, giving the impression that new music is on the way.
At an event introducing a new flavour of her vodka-infused whipped cream products, Cardi alluded to her music and other ventures, and said, “You guys can expect a lot from me this summer.”
“I promise,” she added.
The Grammy winner’s upcoming song would be her first official offering since releasing ‘Hot S**t’ alongside Kanye West and Lil Durk in July. She also made appearances on songs by Summer Walker, GloRilla, and Rosalía in 2022.
But in terms of full-length albums, Cardi’s fans have been waiting for a long time. Five years have passed since the release of her debut album, ‘Invasion of Privacy’, in 2018, but there is still no evidence that a sophomore follow-up is in the works. But that doesn’t mean she’s completely disappeared from the rap scene since then. She has achieved two No. 1 singles since ‘Invasion of Privacy’ with ‘WAP’ featuring Megan Thee Stallion from 2020 and ‘Up.’
“I have no choice — I have to put it out,” she said. “I have, like, a couple of songs that are, like, definite, I don’t know. I don’t know what’s going on with me. I need to just make up my mind and put it out.”
“I gotta put it out next year,” she added, admitting that something was still amiss from the work in progress.
