Celine Dion Cancels North American Tour Over Health Issues
Celine Dion is cancelling the remaining North American dates of her Courage World Tour in a bid to recover from ongoing medical issues. The 53-year-old superstar’s previously postponed US and Canadian concert dates for March-April 2022 have been cancelled due to “severe and persistent muscle spasms” preventing the vocal icon from performing on stage.
According to a statement released on 15th January on its website and social media accounts, “I was really hoping to be okay, but I guess we just have to be more patient and follow the diet my doctors prescribe,” Dion said in a statement. “There is a lot of organization and preparation in our shows, so we have to make decisions today that will affect plans two months from now.”
She added “I will be so happy to be back in full health, as we have all been through this pandemic, and I can’t wait to get back on stage. In the meantime, I have been very moved by all the words of encouragement that everyone has sent me on social media. I feel your love and support and it means the world to me.”
Dion’s muscle spasms was also a factor in the cancellation of her concert at the Resorts World Theater in Las Vegas, which was scheduled for November 2021 and shows in early 2022. The North American leg of Dion’s Courage World Tour was scheduled to begin on March 9 at the Ball Arena in Denver and end on April 22 at Capital One Arena in Washington, D. The European leg of the trek is scheduled to begin on May 25 in Birmingham, England.
Tickets purchased at authorized outlets will automatically be refunded to the credit card used for the purchase, according to the press release. The tour supports Dion’s latest album, Courage, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2019. It was her first chart-topping album in 17 years since her No. 1 debut with A New Day.
