Channing Tatum’s Laundry Hack: Why He Wore the Same White T-Shirts for a Year

Channing Tatum once had a period where he exclusively wore white T-shirts because he absolutely hated doing laundry.

In an episode of GQ’s ‘10 Things Channing Tatum Can’t Live Without,’ the ‘Blink Twice’ star shared that he detested laundry so much that he kept buying plain T-shirts to avoid the chore while still having clean clothes to wear.

“I had this one year I called ‘the year of the fresh white tee.’ I don’t think I did laundry at all that year. I just kept buying white T-shirts and wore each a couple of times a week,” the 44-year-old actor recalled.

Reflecting on that period, which he fondly called “the year of the fresh white tee” in ’99 or 2000, Tatum still has a fondness for plain and slightly worn white shirts, considering them a classic staple. He has his preferences, typically opting for Hanes tees and tank tops, though he avoids the “weird sort-of fitted ones.”

Tatum is also loyal to his favourite pair of Dickies pants that he’s owned since he was 18. “They’re my comfort clothes. They don’t fit as well anymore because my butt’s gotten bigger, but I’ll get back down to that weight,” he joked in the video.

Recently, Tatum revisited his favourite wardrobe pieces for the ‘Blink Twice’ photocall in London, where he sported a crisp white T-shirt under a sleek black suit, perfectly coordinating with his fiancée and director Zoë Kravitz’s Saint Laurent outfit.

This year, Tatum’s style has been on full display as he’s promoted his new films, including ‘Fly Me to the Moon’.

He’s largely stuck to classic menswear, often appearing in well-tailored suits. Tatum has previously credited Kravitz as a major influence on his fashion choices.

“Some friends of mine, like you and Zo [Kravitz], were like, ‘Why don’t you just wear what you wear? Just be yourself,’” he shared with Jonah Hill in a February 2022 interview for V Man magazine, mentioning that Kravitz gave him some valuable style tips.
