Chappell Roan Claps Back at VMAs Photographer

Chappell Roan Claps Back at VMAs Photographer After Allegedly Being Told to "Shut The F*** Up"

Chappell Roan hit back at a photographer who appeared to tell her to “shut the f*** up” during the 2024 MTV VMAs—watch the footage below.

While walking the red carpet at the MTV Video Music Awards, the singer was captured responding to a photographer, saying, “Don’t! Not me, bi**h!” A voice in the background cheered her on, shouting, “Tell ’em, girl!”

It was later revealed that the photographer had initially yelled “shut the f*** up!”—seemingly directed at Chappell Roan—prompting her quick response: “You shut the f*** up!”

After the incident, Chappell Roan spoke with Entertainment Tonight about her confrontation with the photographer stating that it was really overwhelming and pretty scary. For someone like her, who struggles with anxiety when people are yelling, the red carpet can be terrifying.

She continued saying that she yelled back! She stood up for herself.

A few hours after the incident, Chappell Roan took the stage to perform at the VMAs and went on to win the award for Best New Artist.

This incident is the latest challenge for ‘Hot To Go’ singer Chappell Roan, following her rapid rise to fame this year. Roan recently addressed “weird” and “creepy” fan behaviour, telling them that it’s not normal. She had previously vowed to quit music if such behaviour started impacting her or her family.

Roan expressed a desire to “pump the brakes” after fans began giving off “stalker vibes.” Her comments were praised by Paramore’s Hayley Williams, who called her “brave” on Instagram.

Since then, artists like Charli XCX, Billie Eilish, Katy Perry, Lorde, Miley Cyrus, and more have shown their support.
