Chappell Roan has provided an update on her quirky second album. In a recent feature with Rolling Stone, Roan opened up about the progress of her follow-up to ‘The Rise And Fall of a Midwest Princess’. While the album is still in development and no release date has been teased, she revealed that around five or six songs are already finished.
“We have a country song. We have a dancy song. We have one that’s really Eighties, and we have one that’s acoustic, and we have one that’s really organic, live-band, Seventies vibe. It’s super weird,” she told Rolling Stone.

She also touched on ‘The Subway’, a song she's been performing throughout the summer, though she’s unsure if it will be her next single: “I just like performing it. I have two others that I really want to perform, too, [but] I don’t know what’s next. When I don’t know, it just hasn’t hit me yet because usually I know. I always have an answer. I don’t think it’s ‘Subway.’ ”
Her debut album, ‘The Rise And Fall of a Midwest Princess’, was released last September and received widespread praise. Since then, she’s achieved her first UK Number One album nearly a year after its release, receiving congratulations from Elton John. This past April, she dropped the single ‘Good Luck, Babe!’, which climbed to Number Four in the UK. Sabrina Carpenter even covered the track in the BBC Live Lounge in June.

Recently, Roan addressed inappropriate behaviour from some fans, saying, "That’s not normal." Her comments were met with praise from Paramore’s Hayley Williams, who commended her for speaking out, calling her “brave.”
Roan has also shared that artists like Charli XCX, Billie Eilish, Hayley Williams, Katy Perry, MUNA, Miley Cyrus, Lorde, boygenius, Sabrina Carpenter, and Mitski have all shown their support on the issue.

Meanwhile, Chappell Roan sparked mixed reactions after posting a rehearsal photo for the VMAs, shortly before announcing the cancellation of two upcoming European shows due to "scheduling conflicts." On a more positive note, fans have warmly embraced Kacey Musgraves’ recent cover of Roan's 2020 track ‘Pink Pony Club’.
