Charli XCX in Talks to Play White Witch in Greta Gerwig’s ‘Narnia’ Movie

According to reports, Greta Gerwig’s next ‘Chronicles of Narnia’ movie for OTT is considering Charli XCX for the part of the White Witch.

According to Deadline, the Grammy-winning performer is one of the leading candidates for the role, and talks have been going on for a while.  But as of yet, no formal agreement has been reached.

In 2018, OTT first revealed its intentions to create new TV shows and movies based on C.S. Lewis’s ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ books.  Although the adaptation is still in its infancy and few specifics are known, Gerwig joined the project in 2020 as both writer and director.

This is Gerwig’s first significant project after the huge success of ‘Barbie’, which made $1.44 billion at the box office and became Warner Bros.’ highest-grossing movie ever.  The song ‘What Was I Made For?’ by Finneas and Billie Eilish won an Oscar for the movie, and Charli XCX’s song ‘Speed Drive’ was included on the soundtrack.  It’s uncertain if she will provide music for the next Narnia movie as well.

Charli XCX has been landing more acting roles since winning five Brit Awards recently.  She already has several feature projects lined up, such as Gregg Araki’s ‘I Want Your S*x’, Romain Gavras’s ‘Sacrifice’, and Cathy Yan’s ‘The Gallerist’.
