Charli XCX Releases “Sexy” New Disco Pop Track ‘Baby’
Charli XCX has released a new song from her upcoming album ‘CRASH.’ The singer is backed by two backing dancers in a new video for the disco pop hit – Baby’, which you can watch below.
The song, which follows her recent duet with Rina Sawayama on ‘Beg For You,’ is “about great sex,” according to the singer, and was one of the first songs she penned for her upcoming album.
She told Zane Lowe on Apple Music: “It’s probably the most sexy song I’ve ever made. It’s about sex and sexuality and having good sex and just feeling yourself essentially. I know that that’s the tone. I knew that that was the tone I wanted to carry across for the entire record. This kind of hyper-sexualised, feminine power zone was where I was feeling myself going, and ‘Baby’ was the genesis of this.”
Charli has been nominated for two awards at the BandLab NME Awards 2022, which will take place on 2nd March at London’s O2 Academy Brixton. For her recent hit ‘Good Ones,’ she is nominated for Best Song In The World and Best Song By A UK Artist.
Daisy May Cooper, a comedian, actor, and writer, and Lady Leshurr, a grime trailblazer and radio host, will co-host the event, which will feature massive live performances from Sam Fender, Griff, Rina Sawayama, and the newly announced BERWYN and Chvrches, with special guest Robert Smith of The Cure. Halsey will also be in attendance to accept the Innovation Award this year.
‘CRASH,’ Charli’s next album, will be released on March 18th. Charli will take ‘CRASH’ on a world tour through North America, the United Kingdom, and Europe shortly following the album’s release.
