Charli XCX to Star in Film Inspired by Joan of Arc

Charli XCX has joined the cast of a film inspired by the story of Joan of Arc. As reported by Deadline, she will appear in Sacrifice, the English-language debut of French director Romain Gavras, alongside Anya Taylor-Joy (Furiosa), Chris Evans (Avengers: Endgame), Vincent Cassel (Black Swan), and Ambika Mod (One Day).

The film’s plot follows Joan (Taylor-Joy), a determined figure motivated by a powerful prophecy that only she can hear, as she embarks on a mission to save the world from an impending catastrophe. With her loyal band of mystical followers, Joan hijacks a glamorous charity gala, taking three hostages: Mike Tyler (Evans), a weary movie star seeking redemption; Bracken (Cassel), the world’s richest man; and Katie (Mod), an unfortunate attendee caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. As they journey through challenging landscapes of forest and fire, Mike faces a crucial question about what he would sacrifice for the good of humanity.
