Charlie Puth Teases New Single, ‘Girlfriend’

On the list of new releases is none other than Charlie Puth, in with his brand new single. The artist recently surfaced with news of his upcoming single titled, ‘Girlfriend’. Oh but here’s the best part, we won’t have to wait long to get a peek at it. ‘Girlfriend’ is set to drop this Thursday, the 25th. 

Honestly, Charlie should’ve warned us earlier, there’s no way we can prepare ourselves for this one. The star took to Instagram to break the news, with a rather steamy picture of the cover art. 

We see the text ‘Girlfriend’ scribbled in a sunny yellow, against a bright blue backdrop. Charlie Puth, appears to be squatting in hot pink leopard trunks and white sneakers. His comment section has revealed support and enthusiasm from a number of his contemporaries like Lauv, One Republic’s Ryan Teddar, record labels and more.  

This tune will mark Puth’s first solo single of 2020. Speaking about it, the only thing he revealed in a recent tweet was this, “Girlfriend is one of my favourite songs I’ve ever made.” Well, that just leaves us even more intrigued.

The star’s had quite the winning streak with his singles. Just last year, in September, he put out the incredibly catchy tune, ‘Mother’. Sprinkled with rather cheeky lyrics and Charlie’s top notch falsettos, in no time, ‘Mother’ began soaring through charts world over. 

But, once again, coming back to ‘Girlfriend’, this song might just find its space on an album. And we’re saying this because, back in April, Charlie teased yet another tune based on the COVID-19 pandemic. Titled, ‘Sick’, the star played a snippet of the tune during an Instagram live session.

So, yes, we’re putting our bets on the album finding its way to us soon. But for now, let’s wait and see what ‘Girlfriend’ sounds like.
