Check Out a Snippet of The Cure’s Atmospheric New Track ‘Warsong’

The Cure have unveiled a preview of another new track. The band is set to release their 14th studio album, Songs Of A Lost World, this Friday (November 1), which will be their first full-length album since 2008’s ‘4:13 Dream’. Robert Smith and the band have already released two singles from this project, ‘Alone’ and ‘A Fragile Thing’.

In addition, The Cure has been sharing snippets of various other songs from the album through their website and a WhatsApp channel, including ‘Drone’ and ‘And Nothing Is Forever’.

Now, the group has provided fans with a taste of the upcoming ‘Warsong’. The instrumental opens with atmospheric organ chords and subtle percussion, gradually adding electric guitar, plucky keyboard, and drums. You can listen to the preview snippet below: 

The Cure are set to perform a special intimate gig at the BBC Radio Theatre in London tomorrow (October 30), followed by another small show at the Troxy in the city this Friday (November 1). Fans can enjoy the latter performance through a free global live stream on YouTube.

In a recent extensive interview, Robert Smith disclosed that The Cure have another new album that is “virtually finished,” along with plans for a third record. He also mentioned aspirations for a world tour in 2025 and discussed the band’s upcoming 50th anniversary.

During the conversation, the frontman reflected on his belief that the group would disband after their headline concert at Hyde Park in 2018, and he criticized dynamic ticket pricing as a “scam” driven by greed.

Additionally, Smith elaborated on the significant coincidence and personal loss behind the cover artwork for ‘Songs of a Lost World’. He shared that he wrote the track ‘I Can Never Say Goodbye’ in memory of his brother’s passing. He also revealed his “least favourite album” by The Cure and discussed which of their earlier tracks would fit well on Songs of a Lost World.
