Check Out Conan Gray’s Emotional New Track ‘Memories’

Conan Gray has released the latest track from his upcoming album, ‘Memories.’ It comes after the pop star revealed the details of his new album, ‘Superache,’ earlier this month. ‘Jigsaw’ was released earlier this year, and ‘Telepath,’ ‘People Watching,’ ‘Astronomy,’ and ‘Overdrive’ were released last year.

Republic Records will release his follow-up to his 2020 debut, ‘Kid Krow,’ on 24th June. Except for ‘Overdrive,’ all of the songs are set to be on the album.

The piano-led ballad ‘Memories,’ Gray’s new single, reveals his heartbreak, pleading with himself to put it behind him: “Please don’t ruin this for me / Please don’t make this harder than it already is / I’m trying to get over this.”

Gray is shown in a condition of chaos, surrounded by trash, books and a bottle of alcohol. A dog runs into his apartment as he walks around it and opens the front door, quickly becoming a much-needed buddy at a tough time.

Last year, around the time of the release of ‘Overdrive,’ the pop sensation hinted that the follow-up to his 2020 debut album Kid Krow might explore more “existential” themes.

“It’s definitely not the most mentally stimulating time for any writer so I’ve been writing a lot about my past,” he explained. “I’ve also gotten very existential in quarantine, like, ‘Why do I exist? Is fate real? Is there somebody out there that I just haven’t seen yet that’s going to change my life forever?’ I keep having those types of thoughts, so I’ve been writing very existential songs. I’ve been very nostalgic.”

He added: “I’m just a very intense romantic – I will take any small situation and make it gigantic, make it much more than it probably was in the moment. I think that’s what the album is probably going to feel a little bit like.”

Gray is now on a world tour, travelling across North America before moving on to the United Kingdom and Europe in May and June.

He performed a cover of Katy Perry’s “The One That Got Away” with Olivia Rodrigo on stage last week. Gray joined Rodrigo on stage for an acoustic rendition of Perry’s tune during the Vancouver stop of Rodrigo’s sold-out Sour Tour.
