Check Out Lil Nas X’s Energetic New Track ‘Light Again’

Lil Nas X has unveiled his electrifying new single, ‘Light Again,’ accompanied by a vibrant music video. The track was first uploaded on SoundCloud back in March as a one-off, with Lil Nas X humorously acknowledging that he might “probably get in trouble” for releasing it early. He later apologized to his label, Columbia, on X/Twitter. Now, marking the start of his ‘Dreamboy’ era, the rapper has shared an Andrew Donoho-directed video, capturing the exuberant spirit of a ‘Project X’-inspired house party.

Before releasing his new single, Lil Nas X shared on social media that he had spent a long time trying to ensure every song garnered maximum attention, driven by a fear of being labelled a “flop” or feeling inferior. However, this time, he emphasized that he was prioritizing his artistic vision over external expectations. While he expressed a desire for his songs to succeed, he made it clear that they would be released regardless of the outcome, and he fully supported them.

Earlier in the year, Lil Nas X released his first gospel song, ‘J Christ,’ which sparked controversy within the Christian community. The cover art, featuring him on a cross in a manner reminiscent of Jesus’ crucifixion, was widely criticized as a “mockery of Christ.” The song, however, earned the approval of the Church of S**an. Lil Nas X expressed his disappointment over the negative reactions to the song, calling it “depressing.” More recently, when teasing his upcoming ‘Dreamboy’ project, he faced backlash once again, this time for accusations of plagiarizing Sega Bodega’s artwork.

Salvador Navarrete, known as Bodega, took to X/Twitter to highlight the similarities between the artwork for Lil Nas X’s upcoming ‘Dreamboy’ project and his own 2021 single, ‘Angel On My Shoulder.’ Navarrete suggested that Lil Nas X may have copied his design, commenting on the lack of effort to put a unique twist on the artwork. When a fan pointed out that Lil Nas X had posted an Instagram story earlier featuring Navarrete’s artwork as a reference, though without proper credit, Navarrete responded sarcastically, noting that Lil Nas X had only briefly shared the image with no acknowledgment of the artist or photographer. He criticized this as an attempt at crediting that would vanish in 24 hours, dismissing fans who defended the gesture as unreasonable.

In other news, Lil Nas X responded to Azealia Banks after she claimed he “fell off,” asserting that Banks had no lyrical skills.
