Check out the Trailer for Daft Punk’s Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem
Daft Punk has released the trailer for their 2003 animated film Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar, which is set to screen for one night only on December 12 in over 800 theaters worldwide. The film has been remastered in 4K and will also include six additional Daft Punk music videos, directed by acclaimed filmmakers such as Spike Jonze, Michel Gondry, Seb Janiak, Roman Coppola, and Warren Fu.
Directed by Kazuhisa Takenouchi and produced under the supervision of legendary manga artist Leiji Matsumoto, Interstella 5555 was created as a visual companion to Daft Punk’s 2001 album Discovery, with the album’s tracks serving as the film’s entire soundtrack. Notably, the film is entirely without dialogue.

Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, along with their long-time collaborator Cédric Hervet, conceptualized the project. It had a limited theatrical run in 2003 after premiering at the Cannes Film Festival, and has only been available on home media since. Earlier this year, to mark the third anniversary of their split, Daft Punk streamed the film on Twitch.

In October, a dedicated Daft Punk fan started a campaign to turn his LEGO model of the duo’s Alive 2007 concert into an official product. He shared that this project combined two of his passions—Daft Punk’s music and LEGO. He remembered listening to Homework on his Walkman as a teenager, while his son’s favourite song as a baby was ‘Get Lucky,’ making the fusion of his love for both Daft Punk and LEGO feel like a natural fit.

Additionally, Daft Punk made a cameo in LEGO form in Pharrell Williams’ biopic Piece by Piece, alongside other major figures like Jay-Z, Gwen Stefani, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, and Justin Timberlake.
