Cher Reveals That a Two-Part Memoir Will be Released Soon
Cher has announced the release of a two-part memoir that will share the intimate details of her life. The first volume of the music icon’s memoir is scheduled to be published on 19th November by HarperCollins, with the second volume set to be released sometime next year.
A synopsis of the book reads: “With her trademark honesty and humour, ‘Cher: The Memoir’ traces how this diamond in the rough succeeded with no plan and little confidence to become the trailblazing superstar the world has been unable to ignore for more than half a century.”
It continued: “Cher: The Memoir, Part One follows her extraordinary beginnings through childhood to meeting and marrying Sonny Bono – and reveals the highly complicated relationship that made them world-famous, but eventually drove them apart.
“Cher: The Memoir reveals the daughter, the sister, the wife, the lover, the mother and the superstar. It is a life too immense for only one book.”
A description from HarperCollins Publishers reads, “After more than seventy years of fighting to live her life on her own terms, Cher finally reveals her true story in intimate detail.”
Last year, the iconic singer shared that she had resumed work on her memoir after previously abandoning the project. During an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, she explained that she had initially omitted some necessary but uncomfortable details, and now felt the need to address them, requiring her to face those aspects head-on.
She went on to express that her extensive and eventful life warranted an encyclopedic memoir, humourously noting that the audience might not be familiar with what an encyclopedia is.
Music News reports that Cher first announced her plans for an autobiography in 2018, revealing that it would be accompanied by a biopic. In a separate interview on The Graham Norton Show at the end of last year, the singer disclosed the challenges she faced in creating the biopic. She mentioned the difficulty of casting and the fact that the script was still incomplete, highlighting the complexities of capturing her long and eventful life in a film.
Cher’s decision to release a two-part memoir promises to be a captivating deep dive into the life of a true music legend. Her commitment to sharing intimate, previously omitted details shows her dedication to authenticity and transparency. The memoir’s blend of honesty and humour, coupled with the challenges she faces in creating a biopic, reflects the complexity and richness of her experiences. As fans eagerly await these revelations, it’s clear that Cher’s story is too immense for just one book, making this two-part memoir an essential read for those who have admired her trailblazing journey for over half a century.
