Cher Reveals That Her Upcoming Album Could be Her Last
Cher has revealed that her upcoming studio album is likely to be her final one. During a recent conversation at London’s Lyceum Theatre, in support of her new memoir Cher: The Memoir, Part One, she shared that she was “really excited” about the album, describing the songs as “great.” At 78, the iconic singer reflected on her lengthy career, joking about her age, admitting that she’s often the oldest person in the room, and revealing that she doesn’t feel any different than she did in her younger years.
Cher, who has been in a relationship with 38-year-old artist and producer Alexander “A.E.” Edwards, spoke about enjoying the company of younger people, mentioning that she finds them more fun than her older friends. She also disclosed that Edwards had contributed to the production of her next album, noting that he had given her some songs that she was “excited” about.
In 2023, Cher released her first Christmas album, Christmas, which marked her 27th solo album and featured her single ‘DJ Play a Christmas Song.’ The artist also hinted that her upcoming album might be her last, but she expressed enthusiasm about working on it. She had previously shared that she was making two albums with Edwards, indicating that he played a key role in the creative process.
Cher, who first debuted with All I Really Want to Do in 1965, also opened up about aging and the impact of her past experiences. She joked that she would trade anything to be 60 again, reflecting on the confidence and vitality of her younger years. Despite acknowledging the physical changes that come with age, she said that she still doesn’t feel any different.
Additionally, Cher mentioned that she had been in talks to perform at Glastonbury 2025, although it was confirmed recently that Rod Stewart would be taking the Legend Slot instead. She also shared her excitement about her memoir, which traces her rise from a young, unconfident artist to an internationally renowned superstar.
