Chino Moreno of Deftones Joins Gojira on Stage For a Sepultura Cover
The joint US tour of Deftones and Gojira ended on 28th May, and to commemorate the occasion, they performed a Sepultura cover.
Deftones frontman Chino Moreno joined Gojira on stage at the show at Minneapolis’ The Armory venue to play Sepultura’s 1993 tune ‘Territory.’
The tour, which included Poppy as a support act, was first announced in February 2020 and was set to take place that summer. It has been delayed twice since then, with the most recent dates in 2022 being confirmed last summer.
Below is a video from the performance of ‘Territory.’
Deftones officially announced their new touring line-up on the opening night of the tour on 14th April, with bassist Fred Sablan making his debut on the first night of the long-awaited North American tour.
Sablan, widely known as the former bassist for Marilyn Manson, began his stint with Moreno and co. at the Moda Center in Portland.
It comes after Vega announced his departure from Deftones in March. The bassist has been with the legendary metal band since 2009, when he replaced former bassist Chi Cheng, but after rumours of Vega’s exit began to circulate following the release of a new band photo without him, he confirmed the news in a video message.
Now that the tour is over, Deftones will begin performing in Europe on 4th June in Germany, before heading to the United Kingdom for a massive spot at Download Festival, followed by an intimate gig at London’s O2 Kentish Town.
Stephen Carpenter, the band’s guitarist, has withdrawn from the tour because he is simply not ready to leave home and leave the nation yet.
