Chris Evans Shares How Christmas Traditions Are Evolving For Them as a Newlywed

Now that he is married to Alba Baptista, Chris Evans is making changes to his Christmas preparations. The 43-year-old actor told PEOPLE that he and his spouse will spend some time in Portugal, Baptista’s native country, and Massachusetts, where Evans grew up, during the holiday season. Evans said they are beginning a new custom of switching between two places every year now that their first Christmas together as a married couple is over.

However, they will be celebrating in Massachusetts this December. Evans clarified that they chose to spend this holiday in the United States due to their hectic work schedules, as Baptista is filming in Greece and will begin a new production in January. They recently purchased a property in Portugal and are eager to establish new holiday customs there, so they intend to spend Christmas there next year.

Evans is excited to start a family with Baptista and eventually pass on to future generations the holiday customs he enjoyed as a child. When he thinks back on his early years, he treasures the Christmas Eve time he spent with his brothers and hopes that his future family will experience a similar level of intimacy over the holidays.

The couple has special memories of Massachusetts, where they were married in September 2023. They made their public debut as newlyweds at a holiday party in New York City that was hosted by Evans’ Marvel co-star Scarlett Johansson and her husband, Colin Jost. The two made their first official red carpet appearance at the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty after going public with their romance in 2022.

Along with his own festivities, Evans will portray a bounty hunter on a mission to save Santa Claus in the upcoming holiday-themed action movie ‘Red One’. On 15th November, ‘Red One’ will be released in theatres.
