Chris Hemsworth's ‘Extraction 3’: Exciting New Production Update

Joe Russo has provided an important update for the upcoming part of the ‘Extraction’ series. Russo, one half of the Russo Brothers, disclosed the start date of ‘Extraction 3's’ filming at New York Comic Con 2024.

Production on ‘Extraction 3’ will begin next year, Russo told Collider while promoting his new sci-fi adventure, ‘The Electric State’. "At the moment, we are working on the story. Working hard. He stated, "It's definitely filming next year," before adding, "We hope to begin production next year." It's more enjoyable that way, so I'm being a little cagey."

This news is consistent with Chris Hemsworth's statement at San Diego Comic-Con three months prior that Russo was still working on the third instalment's plot. Hemsworth continued, "We’re in the middle of putting it together and writing it, just trying to crack the story."

Russo announced that Idris Elba, who played Alcott, also known as "The Man in the Suit," in ‘Extraction 2’, will reprise his role in ‘Extraction 3’, even if story elements are yet unknown. "If you liked the dynamic between Idris and Chris [Hemsworth], you're going to enjoy ‘Extraction 3’," Russo said.

Alcott lays the foundation for the next film by offering Tyler Rake and his sidekick Nik a ticket out of prison in exchange for going on missions for his boss at the end of ‘Extraction 2’. Elba alluded to his character's "unfinished business" with Rake earlier this year.

The movie has seen great success with both of Sam Hargrave's ‘Extraction’ movies. When the first film, which was based on the graphic novel Ciudad, was out in April 2020, it was the most-watched original production at the time. ‘Extraction 2’, its follow-up, was as successful, garnering 129.3 million views and ranking as the tenth most popular English-language film on the Internet.
