Chris Pine Unsure About ‘Princess Diaries 3’ Appearance But Calls Sequel Fantastic

Chris Pine is uncertain about his return to ‘The Princess Diaries’ franchise for the upcoming third film. During an appearance on Today with Hoda & Jenna, the actor, who played Nicholas Devereaux in ‘The Princess Diaries 2’: Royal Engagement, was asked whether he would reprise his role in the new sequel.

"I don't know anything," Pine admitted, responding to the hosts' question. His character famously professed his love to Anne Hathaway’s Mia Thermopolis at the end of the second movie.

When the hosts suggested the film wouldn’t be the same without him, Pine jokingly said, "Call Disney. Call Bob Iger," referring to the Disney CEO.

Pine expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, "The answer is honestly I don’t know anything about it. I think it’s fantastic." Despite his uncertainty, he showed support for the new instalment.

The upcoming ‘Princess Diaries 3’ marks a continuation of the beloved franchise that began with the original 2001 film. Fans of the series are eagerly anticipating this new chapter, which will celebrate the franchise’s themes of female empowerment, joy, and mentorship.

Screenwriter Aadrita Mukerji is working on the project, and Hathaway, who starred as Mia, expressed her excitement by sharing an article about the sequel on Instagram. Fans are left wondering whether Pine will return, but the actor's positive remarks leave room for hope.
