Christopher Nolan Reveals First Look at Matt Damon in ‘The Odyssey’

The first glimpse of Matt Damon in ‘The Odyssey’, the next film directed by Christopher Nolan, has been released. Standing in front of a mural-adorned wall, the picture depicts Damon in the robes, gauntlets, and battle helmet of Odysseus, the mythical Greek monarch of Ithaca. The film, which is based on Homer's epic tale from ancient Greece, will follow Odysseus as he returns home following the Trojan War.

Filming on ‘The Odyssey’ has already begun, and it will commence in Sicily in March. 17th July, 2026 is the scheduled release date for the movie.

After working together on ‘Oppenheimer’ (2023) as General Groves and ‘Interstellar’ (2014) as Dr. Mann, a stranded astronaut, Damon and Nolan are working on this project for the third time. Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Charlize Theron, and Mia Goth are among the other celebrities who starred in ‘The Odyssey’.

The epic poem has been adapted many times over the years, including the Coen Brothers' 2000 film ‘O Brother, Where Art Thou?’, which starred George Clooney, and the 1954 movie ‘Ulysses’, which starred Kirk Douglas. ‘The Odyssey’ will be filmed in Morocco, the UK, the Eolian islands, and the island of Favignana, also referred to as "goat island," off the northwest coast of Sicily.

Nolan is keeping up his momentum after the triumph of ‘Oppenheimer’, which took home the Oscars for Best Picture and Best Director. Meanwhile, it has been rumoured that Damon and Ben Affleck are working on a follow-up to the 1999 movie ‘Dogma’, in which they will both likely return.
