Cillian Murphy Returns to ‘Peaky Blinders’ World on Film Set

Cillian Murphy has officially returned to the role of Tommy Shelby as production for the highly anticipated Peaky Blinders film kicks off. Fans of the hit series were treated to an early glimpse when Netflix shared the first set photos. In one of the shots, Murphy is seen in character, dressed sharply as Tommy, while another image captures him alongside series creator Steven Knight as they discuss the upcoming project.

Steven Knight expressed his excitement, stating, “I’m thrilled to see the cameras rolling on this new chapter of the Peaky Blinders story, set during World War II.” The film promises to take the Peaky Blinders saga into a gripping wartime setting, with Knight teasing that the country—and the Peaky Blinders—are now at war.

The star-studded cast is set to include Tim Roth, Rebecca Ferguson, and Barry Keoghan, though plot details remain under wraps. Director Tom Harper has also shared his enthusiasm, highlighting the energy and excitement among the cast and crew. “We’re grateful to the fans for getting us to this point, and believe this next chapter will deliver something extraordinary,” Harper said.

Peaky Blinders, which ran for six successful seasons, concluded its TV journey with much fanfare. 

However, Netflix confirmed that Tommy Shelby’s story would continue in film format, exciting fans who eagerly awaited further developments.

Murphy, reflecting on his return to the character, shared, “It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me … It is very gratifying to be re-collaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans.”

Fresh off his Best Actor Oscar win for ‘Oppenheimer’, Murphy’s return to the Peaky Blinders world adds another layer of excitement for his fans and the film industry alike.
