Coco Jones’ ‘ICU’ is a present that keeps on giving. Nearly nine months after the Bel-Air actress debuted her ballad, Justin Timberlake has blessed the track with a new remix.
Rumours of a revamp started circling when Jones uploaded a photoset that included a collage of ’90s boy bands, a screengrab of a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse episode and a cartoon drawing of a river on Twitter. Most of the fans easily guessed that the mystery artist would be none other than the Grammy-winning Justin Timberlake!
Jones confirmed this later during an exclusive interview at the 2023 ESPY Awards,“He’s such a legend and he really supports me, so I’m really really happy to have this collaboration,”.
‘ICU’ serves as the second single off Jones’ EP, titled ‘What I Didn’t Tell You’, released in 2022. Produced by DJ Camper, this heartfelt ballad not only marked Jones’ debut on the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 63 but also dominated the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart for four consecutive weeks.
It’s worth noting that both Jones and Timberlake share a Disney background, making the remix of ‘ICU’ a remarkable and delightful crossover collaboration between these two immensely talented individuals.
Additionally, the latest rendition of ‘ICU’ represents Timberlake’s debut musical offering of 2023. While he made guest appearances on three singles last year, collaborating with artists such as Calvin Harris, Romeo Santos and Jack Harlow, his last full-fledged studio album, ‘Man of the Woods’ achieved the remarkable feat of topping the Billboard 200 chart.
