Coldplay and Spotify Collaborate to Unveil New FC Barcelona Jersey Design

Coldplay and Spotify have joined forces to launch a brand new design for the FC Barcelona jersey. This design will feature a Coldplay logo inspired by their latest album, Moon Music, which was released this month (October 4). Coldplay and FC Barcelona share a long history, with the band’s anthem ‘Viva La Vida’ becoming the club’s unofficial anthem during the 2008-09 season.

Only 1,899 jerseys will be available, honouring the club’s founding year, along with 22 special glow-in-the-dark shirts—half signed by the men’s starting team and half by the women’s starting team. All net proceeds from the sale of the shirts will benefit UNHCR, which began its partnership with FC Barcelona in 2022.

Speaking about the shirt, Coldplay said: “We’re honoured that Spotify has chosen to feature our Moon Music design on the shirt of FC Barcelona. We’ve had a special relationship with the city and the club for many years. We’re also proud to support the UNHCR in their life-saving work to protect refugees and displaced people around the world. Heartfelt thanks to Spotify and FC Barcelona for making this happen.”

The new shirt design will be worn during the upcoming El Clásico match against Real Madrid on October 26, and the FC Barcelona Femení will also showcase the design in their match against Eibar on November 2. In recent years, FC Barcelona has launched a series of collaborations with various musicians, including Drake, The Rolling Stones, and KAROL G, each of whom has created their own designs with the club.

The Rolling Stones partnered with FC Barcelona to commemorate their latest album, Hackney Diamonds, which was released in October of last year. Meanwhile, Drake celebrated becoming the first artist to reach 50 billion streams on Spotify by designing a shirt with the club.

Additionally, Coldplay has just announced their ‘Music Of The Spheres’ North American tour, which is set to be the largest rock tour in history, kicking off in the continent in 2025.
