Cynthia Erivo Expresses Desire to Play X-Men’s Storm
Cynthia Erivo is aiming for a prominent part in Marvel.
When questioned by the National Board of Review Awards Gala in New York City recently, the ‘Wicked’ actress revealed her ideal role. Erivo, 38, stated that she would like to portray Storm, the legendary Marvel character who was initially portrayed on the big screen by Halle Berry in the 2000 film ‘X-Men’.
Erivo emphasized that Storm’s full potential hasn’t been realized, which is why she was interested in the position. She said that there is a chance to do something significant with the part and that the character’s grandeur and inner struggle are important elements worth exploring.
Originally appearing in comic books in the 1970s, Storm is a mutant that controls the weather. Halle Berry has played the character in movies, most recently in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ (2014). Later, Alexandra Shipp portrayed a teenage Storm in ‘Dark Phoenix’ (2019) and ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ (2016).

Actresses other than Erivo have also expressed interest in playing Storm. Janelle Monáe revealed her goals for the position in 2020, saying in an interview with Empire magazine that she has always wanted the job. Monáe said she hoped the character would appear in the ‘Black Panther’ movies and that she wanted to be like the other women who played Storm because of their outstanding performances.
Ariana Grande, who costarred with Erivo in ‘Wicked’, was questioned about the prospect of portraying Audrey Hepburn, another legendary person, at the same event.

In response to rumours that her recent events have been influenced by her old Hollywood flair, Grande jokingly called the notion “insane” but said that she admires vintage Hollywood glitz, citing Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe as sources of inspiration.
Grande hesitated when asked if she would consider doing a Hepburn biopic, stating that it would require flawless execution. She described the suggestion as “very kind,” but she was hesitant to commit.
