American rapper, DaBaby took down the apology that he put upon his social media last week following the backlash that he received from his homophobic comments at the Rolling Loud Music Festival.

The now-deleted post read, “I want to apologize to the LGBTQ+ community for the hurtful and triggering comments I made. Again, I apologize for my misinformed comments about HIV/AIDS and I knew education on this is important. Love to all. God bless.”

The rapper came under fire following his performance at the festival where he made a derogatory comment, “if you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that’ll make you die in two or three weeks, put your cellphone light up,” DaBaby was slammed with criticisms from fans and celebrities alike who condemned his actions. Dua Lipa, Madonna, and Elton John were among some of his fellow artists in the industry who spoke up about his remarks from that day.

Miley Cyrus, who is known for being a fierce advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, however, highlighted that ‘Knowledge is power’ and shared that “It’s easier to cancel someone than to find forgiveness and compassion in ourselves or take the time to change hearts and minds.” Following the apology that DaBaby made, she tagged him in her post with the caption, “Check your DMS-would love to talk and see how we can learn from each other and help be part of making a more just and understanding future!”

Representatives from DaBaby are yet to make an official statement for the deleted post.
