Daisy Ridley Excited to See Reactions to Her Upcoming Zombie Movie ‘We Bury the Dead’

‘We Bury the Dead’, Daisy Ridley’s next zombie film, might leave audiences feeling overly affected. In a recent Q&A at an action thriller screening of ‘Cleaner’, which included Ridley, she mentioned her part in ‘We Bury the Dead’, which will debut at SXSW in March.
The film, which was directed by Zak Hilditch, centers on Ridley’s character, Ava, who works in a body retrieval section handling bodies that don’t remain dead. Brenton Thwaites plays Ava’s companion in the film, which was filmed in Tasmania, Australia, in early 2024. Other Australian and New Zealand actors that starred in the film include Mark Coles Smith, Kym Jackson, and Matt Whelan.
Noting the different reactions her family members had after seeing the movie, Ridley expressed her enthusiasm about how viewers could respond to it. Mom thought it was “so sad,” but her sister thought it was “so scary.” Although there are zombies in the film, Ridley clarified that the main plot revolves around a lady who is trying to find her husband after a military experiment goes awry and is unsure if he is dead, alive, or somewhere in between.

As Ava takes risky actions in her search for her husband, the movie, which is characterized as a character-driven narrative, examines issues of sorrow. In the past, Ridley has called her character “Sad Sad Ava,” highlighting the film’s intense emotional content. The film’s themes of uncertainty and familial ties are similar to those examined in Cleaner, where Ridley’s heroine likewise attempts to protect her loved ones in life-threatening situations.
‘Cleaner’, which opens in theatres on 21st February, stars Ridley while we wait for the release of ‘We Bury the Dead’.
