Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin Have ‘Taken Breaks in the Past’ but Are Stronger Than Ever Now

Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin are currently in a strong and happy place in their relationship. Despite recent breakup rumours, a representative for Johnson confirmed to PEOPLE last week that the couple is still “happily together.” An additional source also stated that the two are “happy and together,” emphasizing that their relationship thrives because they are both independent and have fulfilling lives outside of their romance.

The source noted that whenever Johnson and Martin aren’t seen together for a while, breakup rumours tend to surface.

However, the couple, who began dating in 2017 after Martin finalized his divorce from Gwyneth Paltrow, has weathered their share of ups and downs. Although they’ve faced challenges and taken breaks in the past, their relationship is currently in a great place. Both Johnson and Martin are passionate about their careers, and they are managing to balance their personal and professional lives effectively.

Earlier this year, Johnson starred in three films— ‘Am I OK?’, ‘Daddio’, and ‘Madame Webb’—and also filmed the upcoming movie ‘Materialists’ with Chris Evans. Meanwhile, Martin, a father of two, is busy with a world tour with his band, Coldplay. In March 2024, a source revealed that while Johnson and Martin have been engaged for years, they are in no hurry to get married.

Johnson shared with Bustle earlier this year how much she enjoys watching Martin perform on stage, expressing her admiration and love for his passion. She mentioned, “I love watching him. I could watch him every day… I’m watching my favourite being do his favourite thing.”
